Stories from Iraq

We have a lot about Iraq going on with the runup to the elections, so here’s a rundown of what’s on in the news and what some of the bloggers are saying.

News:
-Purported al-Zarqawi tape: Democracy a lie
-Iraq Details Security Plans for Election Day
-Civil war erupts online as Iraqis prepare for a great experiment
-Iraq ads promote united nation
-Iraq PM hopeful calls for U.S. pullout
-Germans hold two suspected of dirty bomb plot

Blog commentary:
-Zarqawi Suckered by Austin Bay Blog
-More Zarqawi “Wowee” by Roger L. Simon
-Minutemen by Andrew Stuttaford
-Zarqawi Tape Commentary at Iraq the Model
-Here is a cool new Iraq NGO called Friends of Democracy, run by Iraqis, bring news from the ground in Iraq.
-When information technology weakens terrorism by Daniel Drezner
-Democracy, Pro and Con by Powerline
-Who’s who of Iraqi political parties and lists by Chrenkoff (very informative)
-Zarqawi’s War on Democracy by CavalierX

It all seems to be mostly about the Zarqawi tape. It is very interesting, and very timely considering President Bush’s inauguration speech. As I get settled into this week’s work, I’ll be posting a lot more regarding the Iraq elections, so look for that.
